We love the recruitment process – it’s exciting, fast-paced and personable. It’s why we keep doing what we do each day. More than the rush from making the placement of an ideal candidate for the perfect client, we also actually believe in recruitment as the most efficient and successful pathway for employers to make their next hire.
We’ve previously busted some recruitment myths to help identify the benefits of recruitment from both the perspective of an employee and an employer as there can be a lot of misconceptions about what recruiters do.
Recently, we had Joeri Pohan, our public practice Recruitment Consultant, and Steven Lane, our Director, highlight the three reasons for why they love recruitment. Have a read below…
Steven Lane: Director and Recruitment Consultant
People – first and foremost. I very much enjoy working with talented, switched on people from all walks of life. I thoroughly enjoy getting to know our candidates and clients and their stories. Over the years, I have been privileged to support thousands of candidates and hiring managers and always find every single person I meet has his/her own story. This is what makes what we do so special!
2. Always learning and adapting
After 15 years in the industry, I am still constantly being surprised by new situations requiring us to adapt and think on our feet. I love being able to take away any key learnings from new experiences and integrate them into my work – we are in changing times so we have to be adaptable.
3. Outcomes and results-focused
At the end of the day, the only thing that will really set us apart in a highly competitive and often saturated industry is our ability to consistently deliver quality for both our clients and candidates. I love working in an industry that is ultimately outcomes and results-focused. It is fast-paced and there is never a dull moment.

Joeri Pohan: Recruitment Consultant
1. It’s win, win, win
When the process works, we get three happy parties who are benefiting from our efforts; the clients filling a role and welcoming in a new team member, the candidate being placed into a great workplace, and us! I love helping people get to where they want to go.
2. The thrill and the challenge
Recruitment is exciting, challenging, and satisfying. It’s as if you have your own little business that you can build and grow. You need to make quick but informed decisions on what is best for both your clients and candidates and I thrive on thinking on my feet to make the right match in a good time frame.
3. Use of all my skills and knowledge
Recruitment allows me to use every skill I have learned over the past years of my working life, even if it hasn’t been in recruitment. It is highly satisfying to see the skills and tools that I’ve developed, translating into results every day. Some of these are creativity, problem-solving, time management, interpersonal communication, critical analysis, people management, and administration, among others.
